Description: Richard Garland - Pennridge High School - Perkasie, PA - 1967 After graduation, my wife, Betty Kesen and I, lived and worked in the Perkasie area until we moved to Clearwater, Florida in December of 1976. We have one son named James. He is married to Elaine, and just gave us our first grand child. Her name is Liana Grace, (pronounced Leana), and she was born on July 23rd, 2009. For almost 20 years I performed locally, doing a tribute to the legendary Mr. Roy Orbison (Pretty Woman 1964), after being accused of lip-syncing his songs in the Karaoke nightspots we visited most every week. I then had the pleasure of performing my act as the headliner at the 1994, 1995 and 1996 International Roy Orbison Festival in Roy's hometown of Wink, Texas, and had the pleasure of performing on the same stage with the legendary Mr. Carl Perkins (Blue Suade Shoes). Still perform every now and again when we're out at one of our friends shows. They'll get me up to do a song or two. I really miss it, but life takes you in different directions sometimes. Looking forward to retirement in a few years. Maybe then, my wife and I can get the Harley, known to us as "The Babe", back out of moth balls. It's been a long, long time. If anyone knows when our next class reunion will take place, please contact me so I can post the information here. The last one took place right there in Perkasie and it was really great. Got to see and talk to a lot of nice old friends. Hope to do it again in a couple years. And God bless those who are no longer with us. We'll see you again my friends. . |
